Assura Tops Out At Sudbury

17.02.2014

Leading healthcare property developer and investor, Assura Group, held a topping out ceremony at its new Suffolk development, the 35,500 sq ft Sudbury Medical Centre.

The new integrated primary care centre on Church Field Road will see the services previously provided by Walnuttree Hospital, Acton Lane Clinic, St Leonard’s and Siam GP practice consolidated into one practice.

When the final result is officially unveiled, the new health centre will be one of the largest properties in Assura Group’s portfolio, and will support advanced, sustainable healthcare for the wider Suffolk community. Assura Group is acting as both investor and developer on the project, which is expected to complete this summer.

Simon Gould, development manager at Assura Group, said: “We are delighted to have reached this significant milestone in the project. We are sure that the new building will enable high quality healthcare services for the local community and very much look forward to the building opening later in the year. We believe that the integrated services provided from the building should act as a model for future developments

Mark Marshall, project director for NHS Property Services, said: “It’s exciting to see the development progressing on schedule, with the medical centre ready to open in just a few months.

“The West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group wants to provide access to a range of services under one roof, enhancing the support and quality of care offered to their patients, as well as easing the pressure on community staff and local secondary care services.”

Murphy Philipps Architects have designed the building, and Galliford Try is the contractor on the scheme.
