Shropshire mental health charity wins a share of our grant funding.
A Shropshire charity has won a share of our grant funding after being nominated by local GPs.
GPs from Cleobury Mortimer Medical Practice entered Cleobury Mortimer Men’s Shed for a Healthy Communities Grant from us.
Practices working in our 560 health buildings around the country were invited to put forward projects which make a difference to health for their patients. Cleobury Mortimer Men’s Shed will use the funds to help install the electrics in its new shed, which aims to tackle loneliness and isolation through the creation of a positive social atmosphere where anyone can get involved in different projects.
Cleobury Mortimer Medical Practice said: “The addition of a Men’s Shed is a tremendous asset to this community as a holistic signposting route for all professionals, with the added potential benefit of reducing GP visits over time. We also know that many patients who currently provide low level care for male family members are eager for the shed to open, to provide them some respite.”
William Duley from Cleobury Mortimer Men’s Shed said: “The Men’s Shed would link into the medical centre by working with people with social problems, particularly men who may have mental health problems. We have been talking about the relief we could give people in the community to help them.”
