Our new medical centre in Netherfield starts to take shape

Progress on our new primary care building for Netherfield was marked with a special site visit by patients and GPs.

We visited the site, which will provide a new home for Trentside Medical Group, along with members of the practice, the Patient Participation Group (PPG), Nottingham and North East CCG, and construction company Key Construction to see how the build is moving along.

Trentside Medical Group has outgrown its current premises, so the new building will create modern space to care for a growing number of patients as well as to provide other clinical services under the same roof.

The new building, which is less than half a mile away from the current medical centre, includes an innovative children’s waiting area and a telehealth surgery pod which lets patients measure vital signs and update their own health records as well as  a pharmacy, more consulting and treatment rooms, a light and airy waiting area and accessible parking.

Caitriona Kennedy, Practice Manager at Trentside Medical Group said: “The staff and patients at Trentside Medical group are feeling increasingly excited as we see our new surgery progressing speedily. We look forward to our beautiful new surroundings – which will allow us to offer some new services in a relaxing state-of-the-art environment. Our patients will enjoy the spacious waiting areas and bigger consulting rooms. There are a few little surprises in there too! We can’t wait to get in there.”

Pauline Clarke from Trentside Medical Group PPG said: “We are excited to see a much bigger space with large comfortable designated areas for each medical service within one attractive colourful building. The children will have excellent facilities while waiting for their appointment and the new centre will have loop system for the hard of hearing – which was a must for us!”

Bernard Callinan, Managing Director at Key Construction, said: “We are pleased to be working alongside Assura on this state-of-the-art building that will provide an outstanding home for Trentside Medical Group.”

Fiona Callaghan, South Nottingham locality Director said: “It is good to see the new surgery progressing so well. The new build will provide a modern and fit for purpose environment with easier access and better facilities for patients. It will also support the development of the local Primary Care Network and better facilitate more integrated working.”

Andrew Cooper, our Senior Development Manager, said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with the practice and help them make their new building exactly what they need. This new space is about helping the practice plan its future care and we can’t wait to see the building opening its doors to patients.
